Parents Meetings

We have conducted 52 parents meetings in all the villages. We informed about the importance of education to children and government schemes related to education to the parents. Parents are given responsibilities in controlling drop outs and migration in their villages. We focused on the child retention, quality assessment, children’s progress, parents’ participation in school activities. We also discussed about the school sanitation, reduce the dropouts, children health care, involvement of parents and teachers in improving the retention of the children at school.

As a result of these meetings the parent’s participation in the school activities is increased. The drop outs also reduced in this period. As per the school records, only two children were dropped out during this academic year. The sanitation situation is also increased a lot compared to the previous situation.

Meetings on Right to Education Act
We conducted a meeting on right to Education Act in Thippalavalasa, Kothuru and Madhuru. Local president, parents, teachers and other people’s representatives attended to this meeting. This meeting focused on right to avail free education for the children. Child should get free education without any barriers at parents’ level, community level and at school level. Parents and teachers should provide a child friendly environment to the child for quality education.

Computer Course

The computer classes, English courses started in this year. The English lab is equipped with fully with the support of the Matching Grant program by Rotary Club. We also get the permissions from the both District Education Officers (Vizianagaram and Srikakulam) to get the children from schools to campus. We appointed a teacher in Thippalavalasa to teach the children and also supported with some furniture and UPS for the Lab. We provided the Extra 14 chairs, 1 UPS and 28 headsets. Those officers agreed and afforded oral permission.

The group we cater to are the 254 children from the schools of ARDAR's quality education program (outreach). This group probably needs the software more that the children from the Medium School as they have less experience with computers and less qualified English teachers. Initially, they are very hesitant to start using the computer, but they learn remarkably fast.
